WAYNESBORO, Pa. — The Waynesboro Police Department will again participate in a National Night Out crime and drug prevention event.
This year, police will be hosting a pool party at Northside Pool in Waynesboro. It will be on Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 7 to 9:30 p.m.
The 28th annual National Night Out’s theme is “Giving Neighborhood Crime and Drugs a Going Away Party.”
According to a news release, National Night Out is designed to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support for local anti-crime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and send a message to criminals letting them know neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
The Waynesboro Fire Department will be grilling hotdogs. Gatorade, bottled water and Antietam Dairy ice cream also will be provided.
The Waynesboro Ambulance Squad will be conducting child seat safety inspections.
Communities That Care will be fingerprinting and photographing children with their Child ID Kits.
This event is free and open to the public.
