Ruby Lorraine (Mace) McCauley, 73, of Hagerstown, died on Monday, July 18, 2011, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born Sept. 14, 1937, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Edward and Hazel Jane (Davis) Mace.
She had worked as a nurse for 30 years at Washington County Hospital and then for seven years at Loyalton of Hagerstown. She retired in 2006.
Ruby is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Carl L. McCauley; three daughters, Debra Lechron of Naples, Fla., Leslie Thomas of Mineral, Va., and Brenda Hose of Boonsboro, Md.; two sons, Jeff McCauley of Big Pool, Md., and Daniel Lescallett of Hedgesville, W.Va.; a stepdaughter, Mary Pollock of McConnelsburg, PA.; a stepson, Danny McCauley of Martinsburg, W.Va.; two sisters, Fern Edwards of Hyattsville, Md., and June Dill of Hagerstown; a brother, Clarence Mace of Clear Spring, Md.; 13 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son, Samuel Lescallett; and a stepson, Joseph McCauley.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2011, at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, with the Rev. Victor Moon officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
