H. Leroy Hovermale, 80

Mr. H. Leroy Hovermale, 80, of Thurmont, died Sunday, July 17, 2011, at his residence.

Born Nov. 5, 1930, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., he was a son of the late Harry and Agnes Dawson Hovermale.

He was the ex-husband of Peggy Hovermale of Solomon’s Island.

Mr. Hovermale served in the U.S. Armed Forces during the Korean War.

He was owner and operator of Frederick County Rentals Inc. for the past 30 years.

He was a life member and past commander of AMVETS Post No. 7, Thurmont; life member of South Mountain Rod & Gun Club; and a member of Woodsboro American Legion.

Surviving are four sons, Keith Hovermale and wife, Kathy, of Thurmont, Craig Hovermale and wife, Holly, of Rocky Ridge, Lee Hovermale of Texas and Michael Ranish of South Carolina; and four grandchildren, Crystal, Austin, Clay and Travis Hovermale. He will be remembered by nieces, Angela, Sheila, Vicki, Brenda and Scott.

He was preceded in death by beloved son, Clay Hovermale.

Mr. Hovermale is at the Robert E. Dailey & Son Funeral Homes P.A., 615 E. Main St., Thurmont, where friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 25.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, at Garfield United Methodist Church, 13628 Stottlemyer Road, Wolfsville, with Pastor Mark Waldron, Boonsboro Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will be in Garfield Church Cemetery, Wolfsville.

The family requests that memorials be made in memory of Mr. Hovermale to Hospice of Frederick County, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick ,MD 21702.
