U.S. Navy Country Current concert at HCC rescheduled for Aug. 10

HAGERSTOWN — The Hagerstown Community College Alumni Association will host the U.S. Navy Country Current as part of its annual Red, White and Blue Summer Concert Series.

The show, originally scheduled for June 1 but canceled due to thunderstorms, was rescheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in HCC’s Alumni Amphitheater.

Co-sponsored by the Hagerstown-Washington County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the concert is free and open to the public.

The Country Current is a seven-member country-bluegrass ensemble originally formed in 1973 under the leadership of banjo player Bill Emerson. The group is now under the direction of banjoist Senior Chief Musician Keith M. Arneson.

In support of Navy recruiting, the group tours the United States each year and has performed alongside a host of country artists including Brooks and Dunn, Charlie Daniels, Vince Gill, Toby Keith, Alison Krauss, Boots Randolph, the Statler Brothers and others.
