Damages from Leiters Mill Road house fire estimated at $400K

HAGERSTOWN — Damage was estimated at $300,000 to a house that was destroyed by a fire Sunday on Leiters Mill Road near Hagerstown, the Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said.

The fire also caused $100,000 in damages to the contents of the house, according to a state fire marshal's office press release.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation Monday morning.

The fire started at about 4:35 p.m. on the front porch of a one-story home at 20854 Leiters Mill Road, the fire marshal¿s office said.

Fifty firefighters from fire companies in Washington County and Franklin County, Pa., took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control, the release said.

The Red Cross was called to assist five displaced residents of the home, the fire marshal's office said.
