South Mountain Road will close near the South Mountain U.S. Post Office

July 14, 2011

SOUTH MOUNTAIN, Pa. — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Tuesday one road closure and the delay of a bridge closure.

South Mountain Road will close near the South Mountain U.S. Post Office in Quincy Township, Pa., for a project to replace a drainage pipe with a box culvert starting July 18, according to a news release.

Motorists will encounter a detour using Coral Ridge and Loop roads for the rest of July.

Also, a closure associated with a Pa. 316 bridge rehabilitation project in Guilford Township, Pa., has been delayed again. Utility lines are being cleared to make room for a bridge crane.

A PennDOT spokesman said the agency expects the bridge will be closed starting Monday after the morning rush hour.

Affected is a bridge over CSX railroad tracks 1 1/2 miles southeast of Chambersburg borough. The bridge faces $1.8 million worth of work.

Pa. 316, known locally as Wayne Highway, averages 9,772 vehicles per day, a news release said.

PennDOT will post a signed detour by way of Pa. 914 and U.S. 11, back to Pa. 316.
