Thomas the Tank Engine rides offered free Saturday in City Park

July 11, 2011

All aboard the Thomas the Tank Engine this Saturday at the Hagerstown Railroad Museum at City Park.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., kids of all ages can experience a fun-filled day of free railroad activities at Thomas the Tank Engine Day.

Adults and children can experience the fun together as they climb aboard the Thomas the Tank Engine for a trackless train ride. Visitors can then step into the cab of the 1912 Western Maryland Locomotive 202 and ring the bell for all of Hagerstown to hear. When you’re finished, explore two newly painted cabooses and the collection of historic Western Maryland memorabilia and other train displays housed at the museum.

Train-themed prize giveaways will occur every hour from noon to 4 p.m.

The day will be packed with train-themed crafts and activities. You can take part in a scavenger hunt of the entire site, take your picture with the engineer, and get creative and make your own train engine.

All are welcome and admission to the Hagerstown Railroad Museum at City Park is free.

The Hagerstown Railroad Museum is at 525 Highland Way, opposite the Mansion House Art Center in Hagerstown City Park. For more information, call 301-739-8393, email jbryan@hagerstownmd.org or go to www.hagerstownmd.org and look for the Steam 202 link.
