Dorothy Elizabeth Mong, 90, of 7927 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro, Md., died Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center.

Born July 4, 1921, in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Claude C. and Essie Sours Wolfe.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Valentine (Richard) Mong Jr. on April 6, 1997.

She graduated in 1942 from Hagerstown High School.

She attended New Covenant Fellowship Church, Boonsboro, and was a former member of Grace Brethren Church. She was a member of Keenagers, the Friendly Bible Class, taught Kindergarten Sunday School, enjoyed teaching summer Bible school, helped with Junior Church and served as a morning greeter for the worship service.

She is survived by two daughters, Janet Lewis of Thurmont, Md., and Ann Sullivan of Hagerstown; one son, Gary Mong of St. Thomas, Pa.; an adopted son, Gregory Boward of St. Thomas; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol Plum; one son, George V. Mong III; three sisters, Fannie Campbell, Mary Sweigert and Martha Zamecki; one brother, William Wolfe; stepmother, Martha Baker; and half-brother, Chester Wolfe.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2011, at Minnich Funeral Home, 415 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. The Rev. Bob Martin and Pastor Jeff Summers will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 7 to 9 pm.
