Six separate vehicle crashes have occurred in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 in West Virginia starting at the 9.9 mile marker, said a Berkeley County 911 spokeswoman.
There did not appear to be serious injuries, although the traffic was becoming clogged in the southbound lanes, the dispatcher said.
West Virginia State Police were on the scene sorting out how the accidents occurred, the dispatcher said.
The string of crashes occurred at about 3:45 p.m. The dispatcher said she has not heard about any of the lanes being shut down.
