July 08, 2011

A Hagerstown woman was treated at Meritus Medical Center and released Thursday night after the 2006 Honda Accord she was driving on U.S. 40 at Mt. Lena Road careened into the path of an oncoming Pontiac Sunfire, according to Maryland State Police and hospital officials.

The driver of the Honda was Carole Thompson, 69, state police said.

Thompson was traveling west on U.S. 40 and failed to slow down for a Ford Explorer that was preparing to turn left on Mt. Lena Road, state police said.

The Explorer was being driven by Kristin Jolliff, 27, of Boonsboro, police said.

After colliding with the Explorer, Thompson's car careened into the path of the Sunfire being driven by Joseph Dove, 27, of Frederick, police said.

Thompson was the only person taken to the hospital after the 9:30 p.m. crash, police said.
