ATLANTA — Christianna Beachley of Hagerstown received a bachelor of arts degree from Emory College of Emory University at its 166th commencement ceremony May 9.

She is the daughter of Dr. Edward Beachley and Elizabeth Beachley.


Brittany Bennett of Camden, S.C., daughter of Jamie M. Bane of Waynesboro, Pa., received a bachelor of science degree from Emory College of Emory University.


Stephanie Spangler of Shepherdstown, W.Va., has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Emory University.

She is the daughter of Robert K. Spangler and Susan Day.


SCRANTON, Pa. — Caroline Durbin of Shippensburg, Pa., was among the 13 members of the University of Scranton's Class of 2011 who were commissioned as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army during the Jesuit school's commencement exercises recently on campus.

Durbin has been assigned to the Judge Advocate General Corps.


BOURBONNAIS, Ill. — Alex Pollock of New Market, Md., was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Olivet Nazarene University.


ITHACA, N.Y. — The following local residents were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Ithaca College:

  • Carly Smith, daughter of William Smith and Victoria Smith of Frederick, Md.
  • Chenaya Devine Milbourne, daughter of John Devine and Leslie Devine Milbourne of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.


BURLINGTON, Vt. — Daniel Romanelli of Walkersville, Md., received a bachelor of science degree in multimedia and graphic design from Champlain College in May.


WATERVILLE, Maine — Patrick J. Burns of Charles Town, W.Va., graduated from Colby College on May 22 with a bachelor of arts degree.

Burns, the son of George and Mary Burns of Charles Town, majored in art.

He is a graduate of Lawrenceville School in New Jersey.


HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Jennifer Cramer of Shippensburg, Pa., has been named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Huntington University.

She is a  junior sociology and psychology major.


MADISON, N.J. — Amanda Alford of Gerrardstown, W.Va., a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's College at Florham, has been named to the honors list for the spring semester.


MARIETTA, Ohio — Erin Clark of Summit Point, W.Va., recently enrolled in Marietta College's Physician Assistant Graduate Program. Thirty-seven students are part of the ninth class that began the 26-month program June 20.

Clark is a graduate of Jefferson High School in Shenandoah Junction, W.Va.


TEANECK, N.J.  — Stephanie Austin of Chambersburg, Pa., a student on Fairleigh Dickinson University's campus in Teaneck and Hackensack, N.J., has been named to the honors list for the spring semester.  


SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. — Jessica Elizabeth Stein was named to the dean's list for the spring semester at Shepherd University.

Stein is a sophomore majoring in business.
