Cynthia Sperow Snyder, 58, of Charles Town, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Md., surrounded by her loving family, after a lifelong fight with anemia.

Born Sept. 18, 1952, in Martinsburg, W.Va., Cynthia was the daughter of Mary Frances (Miller) Sperow and the late Donald L. Sperow Sr.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Martinsburg.

Cynthia was a graduate of Martinsburg High School, class of 1970, and a 1974 graduate of Shepherd University, with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education.

Cynthia taught fourth grade at Wright Denny Elementary School for 10 years. After leaving teaching, she owned and operated Cynthia’s Flower and Gift in Ranson, W.Va., for 17 years. Cynthia was well-known for her charitable contributions of flowers for local events, as well as her high standards of quality in the floral business. She particularly enjoyed affecting young lives as a teacher, and sharing many brides’ happy times as a florist.

Cynthia participated in civil activities with the Charles Town Junior Women’s Club, Charles Town Rotary Club, Dolly Madison Garden Club, Jefferson County Cotillion Club and Hospice Inpatient Facility Campaign Committee.

Cynthia, along with her husband, Lee, owned and operated Snyder Environmental Services Inc. and Jefferson Utilities Inc. in Kearneysville, W.Va.

Cynthia is survived by her husband of 31 years, B. Lee Snyder; her mother, Mary Frances Sperow; sister, Anne Christine Boarman; brother-in-law, Scott Boarman; brother, Donald L. Sperow II; sister-in-law, Brenda Kay Sperow; brother-in-law, Sen. Herbert S. Sperow; and uncles and aunts, Nelson and Betty Ann Robinson, and Vincent and Martha Miller.

Cynthia will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Cynthia loved flowers; however, she would like to remind everyone to give the gift of life by donating blood.

Cynthia’s funeral will be Sunday, July 10, 2011, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Martinsburg, 315 W. King St., with Pastor Ed Taylor and Pastor Jeff McLeon officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, following the church service.
