Elizabeth Frances Landon, 97, of Somerford Place, Hagerstown, Md., died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at her home.

Born Nov. 6, 1913, in Marion Station, Md., she was the daughter of the late Edward Travis and Rose Esther Hall Landon.

She was a graduate of Marion High in 1930, received B.A. degree from Western Maryland College, Westminster, Md., in 1934, and a master’s degree from Columbia University Teacher’s College in New York, N.Y., in 1949.

She taught in Berlin High, Berlin, Worchester County, Md., for 7 1/2 years, and in Washington School, Hagerstown, for 31 years. She retired in 1974.

She was a member of John Wesley U.M. Church in Hagerstown.

Miss Landon is survived by a niece, Margaret A. Lamberton of Webster, N.Y., and her children, Jeff (Christy) and their children, Caitlyn and Cory, of Penfield, N.Y., and Susan Zuris (Scott) of Fairport, N.Y., and nephew, N. Bruce Lawrason (Anne) of Indianapolis, Ind., and their children, Jane L. McDonald (Robert) and their son, Bobby of Merchantville, N.J., and Elizabeth Princell of Shelbyville, Ind., and her adult children, Emily and Daniel. Additionally, Miss Landon leaves a family headed by six children of a dear friend, Frances Miller of Kearneysville, W.Va., who all have treated her and cared for her their whole lives as another of their aunts, as have their children and grandchildren; Susan Miller Banker, Paul E. Miller III (Laurine), Sarah Miller Pentony (David), Martha Miller Crouse (Lawrence), Ellen Miller Smoot (Jeff) and Laura Miller Glenn (Marshall).

Burial and services will be held on the Eastern Shore at the convenience of the family.
