Pa. woman charged with theft, fraud and forgery
A Chambersburg, Pa., woman has been charged in connection with  checks totaling more than $10,000 that were cashed from another person's checking account, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Sonya Marie Wheeler, 24, of Chambersburg, was charged with theft, fraud and forgery, according to a state police press release.

Troopers said Wheeler cashed seven checks from the account without authorization between April 25 and May 9.

Chambersburg woman charged with theft of jewelry
Lacy Cook, of Chambersburg, Pa., has been charged with theft in connection with $1,200 worth of jewelry taken from a home in the 1000 block of Paper Mill Road in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania State Police said.

The jewelry was taken from June 19 to July 5, according to a state police press release.

Further details were not available.

Washington County Sheriff's Office responds to incidents

The following incidents were reported Tuesday and Wednesday by the Washington County Sheriff's Office:

  • Copper wire was stolen in the 100 block of North Artizan Street.
  • A rifle was stolen in the 11000 block of Clinton Avenue.
  • Packages were vandalized in the 13500 block of Olde Mystic Circle.
  • Stolen property was recovered in the 17600 block of Stone Valley Drive.
  • A television was stolen from a vehicle in the first block of East Poplar Street.

Man reports he was stabbed in city alley
A man’s arm was injured when he was stabbed in an alley north of Church Street in Hagerstown, Police Chief Arthur Smith said Wednesday.

The stabbing occurred at about 8 a.m. Wednesday while the man was walking toward the city’s North End, Smith said.

Police believe the attacker wanted to see what the man had in his backpack, Smith said.

Police were looking at videos from street cameras in an attempt to determine what happened, Smith said.

Police looking for missing Pa. teen
GREENCASTLE, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are looking for a runaway teenager who left her home in the night of June 22 to June 23.

Kacie Bree Wykoff, 17, is suspected to be in the Williamsport, Md., area, police said in a news release Wednesday.

She is a white female who is approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall. She weighs about 165 pounds and has black hair, blue eyes and fair skin, police said.

Driver hits squad car
FREDERICK, Md. (AP) — Police in Frederick said a drunken driver rear-ended a marked patrol car and injured the officer at the wheel.

They said Officer Keith Donovan was on patrol about 3:45 a.m. Wednesday when his car was struck on southbound U.S. 15 by a speeding driver.

Police said the impact sent the patrol car careening across all four traffic lanes before it came to rest on the left shoulder of the highway.

A police spokesman said Donovan was treated and released at Frederick Memorial Hospital.

Police say 26-year-old Kevin Dodds of Clifton, Va., has been charged with driving under the influence and other traffic violations.
