The left lane of Dual Highway eastbound is closed from Mount Aetna Road to just beyond Edgewood Drive for wedging and milling. The closure is part of the expansion project of the Dual Highway and Edgewood Drive intersection, Kellie Boulware, a spokesperson for the Maryland State Highway Administration, said.
Closure of the lane is expected to last until 3 p.m. today, according to Boulware. Tomorrow the next eastbound lane is expected to be closed in the same location between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., she saidd.
Left turns from Dual Highway onto Edgewood Drive have also been blocked off during the closure.
The project is part of a long-term plan to widen the intersection between Dual Highway and Edgewood Drive as well as provide curb lanes and sidewalks for bicycles and pedestrians. The Maryland State Highway Administration's website says the project costs approximately $5 million.
Pessoa Construction has been contracted to work on the project.
