Albert Richard Roelkey Sr., 80, of Knoxville, Md., passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, at his residence.

Born Aug. 12, 1930, in Knoxville, he was the son of the late David Henry Roelkey Jr. and the late Helen Hightman Roelkey

He was of the Baptist faith.

He farmed for 60 years in Knoxville, and also owned and operated Roelkey Septic Service.

He was a member of Brunswick Lodge No. 191 AF&AM and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He also was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 1136 and Brunswick Moose Lodge No. 1582.

He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Pat Minnick Roelkey, at home; two sons, Albert “Rick” Richard Roelkey Jr. and wife, Cathie, and Charles “Punk” Stanley Roelkey and wife, Linda; two daughters, Joyce Elaine Harrison and husband, Donny, and Patti Lynn Ayers and husband, Tommy, all of Knoxville; one sister, Mary Simpson of Lovettsville; one brother, Robert Roelkey and wife, Ellie, of Boonsboro; three grandchildren, Justin Harrison, Jamie Ayers and Albert “Rick” Roelkey III; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by five sisters and five brothers.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2011, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, U.S. 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, W.Va., with the Rev. Wendell McClellan officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, Md.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m., with a Masonic memorial service at 7:30 p.m.
