Two lanes of I-70 westbound to close from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m.

July 05, 2011

Two lanes and the right shoulder of I-70 westbound will be closed between the Myersville and Md. 66 (Mapleville Road) exits (Exits 42 and 35) from 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. for paving, according to the Maryland State Highway Administration's website. Closure is expected to last until Thursday.

The State Highway Administration plans to work on resurfacing I-70 in that area up to the Frederick County Line, according to a published report in June. Preliminary work was being done on the project in early June.

While the paving is going on in the area, different lanes on I-70 will be closed at different times 7 p.m. and 6 a.m. Monday through Thursday and Sunday midnight to 11 a.m., according to a press release from the Maryland State Highway Administration. Md. 66 will also have lane closures at different times throughout the project.

Close to 60,000 vehicles travel on this section of I-70 each day, according to the press release. The project will cost around $3.7 million and is expected to be completed this Fall. F.O. Day, Inc. of Rockville has been contracted to work on it.
