Robert W. “Bob” Ernharth, 49, of 235 Oak Lane in Greencastle, Pa., died unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 2, 2011, at Waynesboro (Pa.) Hospital.
Born Nov. 22, 1961, in Pittsburgh, Pa., he was the son of William and Rita (Goddard) Ernharth of Pittsburgh.
He was a mechanical engineer at Volvo Powertrain in Hagerstown, Md., having worked there for more than 25 years.
Bob attended St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Hagerstown and was a social member of Harry D. Zeigler VFW Post 6319 of Greencastle.
Bob graduated in 1979 from Langley High School near Pittsburgh and in 1983 from Penn State University in State College.
For three years, he served as head coach of the varsity Eagles midget football team. He also served as assistant coach in various Little League and tournament softball leagues.
Surviving family, in addition to his parents, are Lisa Ernharth, mother of his daughter, Christine Ernharth, and son, Stephen Ernharth, all of Greencastle; two sisters, Linda (Mrs. Gregory) Wozniak and Diane Pritchard, all of Pittsburgh; three nieces; and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Frances Goddard.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, July 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 395 S. Ridge Ave., Greencastle, with the Rev. Menniti officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Greencastle.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle.
