Repp, Goge receive Wiebel scholarships

The Russ Wiebel Memorial Athletic Scholarship was awarded to Devin Ray Repp of Clear Spring High School and Ashley Leigh Goge of Williamsport High.

The scholarships are for $500 each.

The scholarship is named for Wiebel, a longtime high school and college sports announcer who died in 2007.

Devin maintained a 3.2 grade-point average at Clear Spring High. He was a four-year member of the varsity soccer team (team captain in his junior and senior years), varsity indoor track team and varsity outdoor track team (team captain in senior year).  He was a three-year member of the Student Government Association and a three-year member of the Jonathan Nesbitt History Club. In his senior year, he was elected as a senior officer of that club. He is active in the Salem Church Youth Group and goes on mission trips with the church.

Ashley maintained  a 3.9 GPA. At Williamsport High, she played soccer, where she lettered in her sophomore year and played three years on the varsity team.  She also participated in indoor track, where she lettered her freshman year, playing varsity for four years and was a part of the 4-x-800-meter relay state champion team in 2009, the same season the Williamsport girls track team won the state title. She participated in outdoor track, where she lettered her freshman year and participated for four years on the varsity squad. She was also part of the Williamsport girls state track team in 2008 and 2009. She was involved in Link Crew, National Honor Society and Student Government Association. She planned a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

To be eligible for the scholarships, students must be a high school senior, must have played varsity sports and must attend the fall 2011 semester at Hagerstown Community College.

The checks will be sent directly to HCC.
