Williamsport Nationals win tourney

CUMBERLAND, Md. — After going 4-0 in bracket play, the Williamsport Nationals defeated Woodsboro Post 282 12-4 on Sunday in the championship game of the Potomac Junior Legion Summer Classic baseball tournament.

Zane Schreiber had two doubles and three RBIs and Justin Lewis had three hits and two RBIs in the championship game for the Nationals. Also in the victory, Tyler Byers had three RBIs, Austin Stone and Charles Cvijanovich each had two hits and Scott Bennett and Josh Moats each had an RBI.

Byers also was the winning pitcher, scattering eight hits while striking out six.

Centra Bank: Jeremiah Younker 2 hits, HR, 4 RBIs; Zach Barr, Conner Litton 2 hits each.

Scores: Hagerstown 9, Rosenberry Meats 8; Hagerstown 10, Rosenberry Meats 6.


Beckwith 5K to be held July 16

The annual Bill Beckwith 5K & Fun Run will be held July 16 in Smithsburg, starting and ending at Veterans Park.

Registration begins at 7 a.m., the fun run starts at 8 and the 5K begins at 8:30.
