CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — The Greater Chambersburg Chamber of Commerce welcomed eight new members in May and June: Carlisle Barracks/Cumberland Valley Chapter, AUSA; Chambersburg Area Civitan Club; Community Creations Inc.; Dietrich’s Ice Cream LLC; Franklin County Crime Solvers; Power Marketing; The Igloo; and Rubber Sheet Roll LLC.

The Chamber is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and now has 849 members.




Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission


The Hagerstown-Washington County Economic Development Commission received the Economic Development Program Award during the sixth annual Maryland Economic Development Association Awards event in early June in Cambridge, Md.

The awards recognized outstanding efforts to attract new businesses, assist existing businesses, redevelop business districts, market communities, and support work-force development initiatives, tourism activities and agricultural programs.

The local EDC was honored for its leadership in securing and disbursing $19.45 million in Federal Recovery Zone Facility Bonds to help local companies build state-of-the-art facilities, create employment opportunities and enhance the local economy.

The projects are as follows:

  • $3.2 million to Rider Jet Center for construction of hangar 66
  • $3.5 million to Rider Jet Center for construction of office building 67
  • $5.25 million to Bergman Eye Center LLC for a medical office and surgery facility
  • $7.5 million to Capital Women’s Care LLC for a Class-A professional office building

Once all of the listed projects are completed, the federal bonds will have helped Washington County create more than 250 jobs, add capital investment of $24.2 million and increase its tax base by $15 million.
