Julia Mae Cunningham, 85, formerly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Thursday, June 30, 2011, at Broadmore Assisted Living in Hagerstown, Md., while under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Born Oct. 17, 1925, in Morgan County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Clarence Luther and Daisy Pearl Karns Barker.

Mrs. Cunningham was a member of Berkeley Springs Presbyterian Church. She is a 1943 graduate at Berkeley Springs High School. She was a seamstress with Interwoven Mills and Vanguard Industries.  

Julia is survived by one son, Eddie L. Cunningham and wife, Margaret, of Hagerstown; two brothers, Ronald L. Barker of The Villages, Fla. and John E. "Dick" Barker of Hancock, Md.; two grandchildren, Christopher Cunningham and Amanda Cunningham; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin Cunningham and Brianna Cunningham.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Cunningham on Dec. 11, 1997; two sisters, Beatrice Annabelle McCumbee and Frances Moss; and two brothers, Clarence "Junior" Barker and Ralph Barker.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 3, 2011, at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 95 Union St., Berkeley Springs, with Pastor Lisa Unger officiating. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

Family will receive friends Sunday, July 3, 2011, from noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
