Mr. Earl “Tommy” T. Robertson, 77, of Frederick, Md., passed away Sunday, June 26, 2011, at Frederick Memorial Hospital.
He was the husband of Alice Fogle Robertson, his wife of 55 years.
Born June 30, 1933, in Westminster, Md., he was the son of the late David N. and Lamora Utz Robertson.
Tommy attended St. John’s High School, receiving his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Maryland and his master’s degree from Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.
He served his country in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean War. During his working career, he was employed at Fort Detrick for five years; at Hancock Senior High School as a science teacher for one year; and at Smithsburg High School as a biology teacher for 30 years.
He was a member of Francis Scott Key American Legion Post 11 and Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 142.
He enjoyed trains, gardening, woodworking and helping others.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Valerie R. de Grange and husband, Donald A. de Grange, MD, of St. Louis, Mo.; and two sisters-in-law, Betty Lee of Frederick and Evelyn Wilcom of Monrovia, Md. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert N. Robertson.
The family will receive friends at Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, on Tuesday, June 28, from 6 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Wednesday, June 29, at 1 p.m. with Deacon Skip Manley officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens.
