Closings for the Fourth of July

City of Hagerstown

Trash, recycling

July 4 is designated as the Independence Day holiday in the City of Hagerstown. There will be no collection that day and the landfill will be closed. All trash and recycling collection will be delayed by one day.

Hagerstown City Council will not meet June 28 or July 5. The council will hold a work session July 12.

Washington County

Washington County government offices and services will be closed July 4 in honor of Independence Day.

County Commuter Transit will be closed for regular service, as will all locations of the Washington County Landfill.

Essential services such as law enforcement and 911 emergency dispatch will operate as usual.

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners will not meet June 28 or July 5. The commissioners’ next meeting will be July 12.  

Courts

Washington County Circuit Court and Washington County District Court offices will be closed July 4.

Chamber of Commerce

The Hagerstown-Washington County Chamber of Commerce will be closed July 4.

Banks

Federal Reserve banks and branches will be closed July 4.

Postal service

Post offices will be closed July 4 in observance of the holiday.

Maryland MVA

Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration and Vehicle Emission Inspection Program locations will be closed July 2 and 4 in observance of the holiday and in accordance with Maryland’s budget-reduction plan.

Maryland state offices

July 4 is a holiday for state employees.

PennDOT

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation driver’s license and photo centers, including the full-service center in Harrisburg, will be closed July 2 to 4 in observance of Independence Day.
