Whitetail making $2.8 million worth of improvements

June 27, 2011

MERCERSBURG, Pa. — Whitetail Resort announced Monday it will invest $2.8 million in the coming months for several projects, including new fan guns on the intermediate trail (Fanciful), as well as lighting of that trail.

The resort will be acquiring all new adult rental skis and boots furnished by Elan and Dalbello, and 600 new adult Burton snowboards. Other improvements include air conditioning in Marketplace, a loading carpet on the EZ Rider Quad Lift, the expansion of the ski and snowboard check, and the addition of a second outdoor patio with heated pavers.

According to a news release, the addition of the new TechnoAlpin fan guns on the Fanciful trail will allow the slope to open earlier and stay open later in the season. The lighting of the trail will enable it to be used for night skiing and snowboarding.

Air conditioning in the Marketplace will open up the base lodge area in the off-season to those wishing to rent it for banquets, weddings, family functions or other events, according to the release.

The creation of a second outdoor patio area will open up the space and allow for more seating capacity in winter and summer. The patio will utilize heated pavers to speed up the snow-removal process in the winter.

Due to construction of the patio area, Whitetail’s ski and snowboard check will be moved in front of the beginner area and expanded to hold more equipment.
