June 24, 2011

GREENSBORO, S.C. — The Hagerstown Suns hit three home runs to support a quality start by Taylor Jordan in a 7-4 victory over the Greensboro Grasshoppers in the South Atlantic League on Friday night.

Jason Martinson and Kevin Keyes got the Suns (2-0 second half) going with back-to-back solo home runs with one out in the second inning against Greensboro starter Jheyson Manzueta (2-6). It was Martinson’s seventh homer of the year and Keyes’ fifth.

Hagerstown scored four times in the third to make it 6-0. Adrian Sanchez and Bryce Harper led off with doubles to put runners at second and third, before David Freitas’ single drove them both in. Freitas later scored on a wild pitch before Wade Moore hit an RBI double.

Greensboro (0-2) cut the lead to 6-1 in the fourth on Aaron Dudley’s RBI single off Jordan (8-3).

Hagerstown got the run back in the fifth when Freitas led off with his ninth home run of the season for a 7-1 lead.

The Grasshoppers made it 7-2 in the seventh on Isaac Galloway’s RBI double.

Suns reliever Dean Weaver allowed Aaron Dudley’s two-run home run in the ninth before closing the door.

Jordan allowed five hits and a walk in seven innings while striking out eight.
