Purina Mills alleged safety violations

The following is a list of alleged safety violations for which Purina Mills was cited and the fines levied:

  •   Employees removed guards and made mechanical repairs to mill equipment, $3,400.
  •   Three auger guards were not secured, $3,400.
  •   A 25-inch by 30-inch grate had 19 inches of the opening covered, $2,550.
  •   An exit door was not marked in the receiving shed, no fine.
  •   A door in the receiving office was not identified or marked as "Not An Exit," no fine
  •   Employees removed guards and made mechanical repairs to mill equipment, no fine.
  •   Fluorescent lamps located 8 1/2 feet above floor level were not guarded, no fine.
