LEGION BASEBALL

Funkstown 10, Woodsboro 9

WOODSBORO, Md. — Trevor Haupt had three hits and drove in four runs to lead Funkstown to a victory in the Western Maryland District.

Tyeler Presgreaves had two hits and two RBIs, and Aaron Stoner struck out eight to collect the win for Funkstown (6-1, 4-1). Aaron Jones picked up the save.

Maryland falls to Texas

NORMAN, Okla. — Williamsport’s Connor Arnone had two hits for Team Maryland in a 5-3 loss to unbeaten Texas at the Heartland Baseball Classic.

Maryland (2-3) is in fourth place in the tournament and will play Ohio today at 4 p.m. EST. The game will be streamed live at www.zpreps.com.

BRIEF

Car show fundraiser

A car show will be held July 2 in the parking lot of the former Giant Eagle grocery store off Burhans Blvd. in Hagerstown. Registration is from 10-noon and the day’s activities run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost to enter a car is $10. There will be raffles, music and door prizes. Proceeds will benefit the WACO Junior Golf program and be used to help fund the three $500 scholarships awarded at the end of the year.
