John H. "Skinner" Coffinberger, 90, of Martinsburg, W.Va., died Thursday, June 23, 2011, at his residence while under hospice care.

Born March 27, 1921, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late James Clifton Coffinberger and Martha Smith Link Coffinberger.

He retired from Schmidt's Baking Co. after 25 years of service  and assisted with the family catering business.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army, and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge.

Mr. Coffinberger was a member of Newton D. Baker Post 896, VFW, and Berkeley Post 14, American Legion.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the men's Bible class.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Evelyn Cammer Coffinberger; one son, Brad Coffinberger; one daughter, Susan Coffinberger Wenger and husband, Ronald, all of Martinsburg; two grandchildren, Gregory Wenger of Martinsburg, and Hilary Rondeau and husband, Leo, of Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Alden and Quinn Rondeau; one brother, Dennis Coffinberger  and wife, Frances, of Kearneysville; W.Va.; and one sister, Mary Caldwell and husband, C.M. "Mac", of Martinsburg. He is also survived by his three faithful companions, Dolly, Parker and Annie.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James L., William B., H. Daniels and Lee M. Coffinberger; and four sisters, Martha Pauline and Margaret Coffinberger, Eunice "June" Evans and Nannie Kipe.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 26, 2011, at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James D. Riley Jr., officiating. Interment will be held at Rosedale Cemetery.

Friends may call on Saturday at Brown Funeral Home.
