School honors students

Maugansville Elementary School recognized students for demonstrating good citizenship at the last Golden Table of the year on May 27.  Students received a book, compliments of the PTA, a school-related goodie bag, healthy treats, a certificate and a star to wear designating their accomplishment.  

The students recognized were:

  • Kindergarten — Leilah Albertson, Jake Scallion, Jayden Rideout, Loki Collins, Cole Galihugh, Christopher Mendez-Perez, Andrew Hayes, Tyler Scadden, Catherine Enriquez, Conner Meldron, Ava Rattay and Michael Montoya;
  • First grade — Felipe Aveleneda, Rachel Hebb, Adriana Cox, Ayden Staup, Briann Russ, Kylie Deaton, Ryland Mata, JahNasia Fitchett, Cayden Rickett and Megan Stuller;
  • Second grade — Raymond Wright, Jayson Sprankle, Emma Flint, Logan Hine, Eddie Horner, Allyson Pope, Dorrien Garment, Shawn Perry and Daryl Martin;  
  • Third grade — Kamerine Noel, William Zheng, Raia Handy, Benjamin Ridenour, Kaylee Curd, Anthony Harris, Nicholas Carter, Stephanie Vicarte, Dakota Hoke, Joshua Clemmer and Katie Stone;  
  • Fourth grade — Dalton Barnhart, Lexie Hayes, Dustin Fisher, Ariel Werry, Hunter Sears, Elyssa Lou, Geraldine Bentancur, Travis Bamfo and Chelsea Parra;
  • Fifth grade — Makiya Claiborne, Cenceer Harris, Breanna Munson, Thomas Forrest Feruza Mirzayeva, Kyle Smith, Glendy Lemus-Lizama, Lexi Mellott and Natalie Scallion.

Car and truck show planned Saturday, July 2

There will be a car and truck show along with a yard sale Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the former Giant Eagle parking lot at the corner of Burhans Boulevard and Hillcrest Avenue in Hagerstown.

The event will benefit the Washington County Junior Golf Association.

Registration will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Any type of vehicle is welcome to register.   

Entertainment will consist of music, raffles and door prizes.  

There will be food available onsite.  

Dash plaques will go to the first 100 vehicles. Awards will go to best car, best truck, best of show and top 30. The awards presentation will be at 3 p.m.  

There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.  

No alcohol, pets, burnouts, playing stereos, bikes or skateboards will be permitted.  

To rent a space for the yard sale, the cost per table will be $10.
