Phyllis E. Younker, 78, of Clear Spring, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at her home.

Born Dec. 23, 1932, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Luther C. and Elizabeth G. Householder Kesecker, and widow of Herbert “Gene” Younker, who passed away May 29, 2001.

She formerly attended Parkhead United Methodist Church, Big Pool, Md.

She is survived by two daughters, Deborah Filling and husband, Mark, Baltimore, Md., and Tammy Shawley and husband, Fred, St. James, Md.; two sons, Douglas Younker, Clear Spring, Md., and Barry Younker and wife, Dorinda, Williamsport, Md.; two brothers, Emory Kesecker, Hagerstown, and Edward Kesecker, Hancock; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Angelia Diane Younker; and two sisters, Mary Frances VanGosen and Louise Golden.

A service will be held Friday, June 24, at 11 a.m. at Parkhead United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock. The funeral home will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. for the convenience of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21740; or to the National Parkinson’s Foundation Gift Processing Center, P.O. Box 5018, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018.
