Doris Grabill Powers, 92, of Rohrersville, Md., passed away Monday, June 20, 2011, at Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, Md.

Born Aug. 17, 1918, in Union Bridge, Md., she was the daughter of the late Roland Watt Grabill and Bertie Rippeon Grabill.

She was a retired bookkeeper with Hamilton Insurance Co. in Washington, D.C.

Doris was a member of Sandy Hook United Methodist Church and also a member of VFW Post 3285 in Frederick, Md.

She is survived by two nieces, Susan H. Miller of Johnsville, Md., and Maureen Ruff of Wyoming; two nephews, Bradley Grabill of Florida and Ronald Grabill of Thurmont, Md.; one great-niece, Meghan S. Miller of Johnsville; and one great-nephew, Nathan D. Miller of Johnsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll James Powers, who died in 1998; two sisters, Gladys Ramsburg and Carmine Hevener; and three brothers, Carville, Harold and John Grabill.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Eackles-Spencer & Norton Funeral Home, U.S. 340 at Halltown Road, Charles Town/Harpers Ferry, W.Va., with Pastor Charles Henry officiating.

Interment will be in Brownsville Heights Cemetery in Brownsville, Md.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
