Franklin County (Pa.) Emergency Services reports incident

The following incident was reported Tuesday by Franklin County (Pa.) Emergency Services:

At 5:08 a.m., a residential fire alarm in the 100 block of Walnut Dale Road in Cumberland County.

Bicyclist taken to hospital after collision with car

A Hagerstown man was taken to Meritus Medical Center after his bicycle collided with a car Monday evening at the intersection of Eastern and Jefferson boulevards, according to Deputy 1st Class Jay Mills of the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Randy McGowan, 51, of Hagerstown, initially refused medical treatment, but was taken to the hospital for an injury that required stitches, Mills said.

A hospital spokeswoman said Tuesday that McGowan was not listed as a patient.

McGowan was riding east on Jefferson Boulevard at about 8:25 p.m., when he allegedly ran a red light and collided with a Nissan Maxima that was traveling north on Eastern Boulevard, Mills said.

The roadway remained open during the accident, he said.

Sheriff's Office seeks person who crashed stolen motorcycle


The Washington County Sheriff's Office is looking for a person who fled after crashing a stolen motorcycle Monday evening in the 18400 block of Burnside Bridge Road in Sharpsburg.

An investigation showed that the motorcycle, a 2006 Yamaha RI, was stolen on Avon Road in Hagerstown in September 2009, according to a news release.

The motorcycle, which was valued at $12,000, was destroyed in the crash.

The motorcycle rider's helmet was found near the crash, the sheriff's office said.

The helmet was blue and white with three eyeballs on it. A sticker on the rear of the helmet reads "Come get me."

Pa. woman charged after allegedly spitting on trooper

A Greencastle, Pa., woman was charged with aggravated assault after she allegedly spit on Pennsylvania state troopers at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital, state police said.

Leah Lillian Ellison, 30, of 35 W. Franklin St. in Greencastle, was charged with one count each of disorderly conduct and driving under the influence, and two counts of aggravated assault, according to a news release from  the state police.

Troopers said they stopped Ellison early Friday for allegedly driving erratically and took her to Chambersburg Hospital, where she allegedly kicked over a sign in the lobby area, spit on two troopers and head-butted another.

Ellison was taken to Franklin County Prison, the release said.

Philadelphia man charged after incident at Vision Quest

A Philadelphia man who allegedly attacked a 16-year-old child Saturday at the Vision Quest facility in Guilford Township, Pa., was charged with aggravated assault, Pennsylvania State Police said.

Aaron Jabbar Tatom, 18, of Philadelphia, was charged Monday in connection with the incident, according to a news release from the state police.

The release said Tatom was taken to Franklin County Prison.

Sheriff's Office reports incidents

The following incidents were reported Monday and Tuesday by the Washington County Sheriff's Office:

  • The glass window of a door was broken in the 11300 block of Youngstoun Drive.
  • The front windshield of a 1996 Mercury Grand Marquis was damaged in the 100 block of North Conococheague Street.
  • A theft in the 14100 block of Paradise Church Road.
  • A theft in the 4000 block of Southbend Lane.
  • A theft in the 14800 block of National Pike.
  • A theft from a vehicle on Sandy Hook Road.
