Book discussion planned for July 6

Clear Spring Library will hold a book discussion Wednesday, July 6, at 11:15 a.m.

The book to be discussed will be “When We Were Strangers” by Pamela Schoenewaldt, which chronicles the life journey of a young immigrant seamstress as she travels from her isolated Italian mountain village through the dark corners of late 19th-century America.

Books are available through the L. P. Snyder circulation desk. Beverages and cookies will be provided.

Soccer registration

Clear Spring Soccer Club is holding fall registration. The deadline is July 17. Tryouts for the U10 and older age groups will be held Saturday, July 9 and Monday, July 11, at Clear Spring Park.

On July 9, tryouts are as follows: U-10 at 9 a.m.; U-12 at 10 a.m.; and U-14 at 11 a.m.

On July 11, tryouts for U-10 are at 5:30 p.m.; U-12 at 6:30 p.m.; and U-14 at 7:30 p.m.

Vacation Bible School

Son Surf Vacation Bible School will be held at Clopper’s Grove Fellowship Hall, (1/2 mile south of Blairs Valley First Church of God) from June 26 to 30, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The event kicks off Sunday at 5:30 p.m.

It is intended for those in preschool through sixth grade.

In the early years, it was done in blackface and the cast was all males.
