WILLIAMSPORT — The deck on the Md. 63 (Greencastle Pike) bridge over the CSX Railroad near Williamsport was being ripped up Monday.
The bridge was closed Monday and is expected to remain closed until the end of the summer, according to a press release issued Friday by the Maryland State Highway Administration.
A worker for Concrete General who did not want his name revealed said only the beams will stay in place. The entire deck will be replaced and paved over.
He also said that repair work will have to be done under the bridge.
Concrete General was contracted to work on the project, according to the SHA's website.
Detours around the bridge have been set up.
The project is expected to cost about $1.3 million.
