Gene Iager scholarship available

The Gene Iager Agricultural Scholarship is offered to Maryland youth who are members of a junior breed organization (all breeds), have/had a 4-H dairy project and are enrolled in a four-year program at a college of agriculture.

The $5,000 scholarship was established in 2007 by Iager, a dairy, turkey and grain farmer in Howard County, Md.

The award will be presented at the Maryland State Fair during the 4-H Supreme Dairy Show.

This scholarship may be won by an individual one time.

Applications can be found on the University of Maryland website or can be obtained by contacting Arthur and Peggy Johnson at 301-972-8274.

Applications must be typed in a 12-point font in the space allotted and postmarked no later than July 1.

A recent wallet-size photo (head shot only) and an official college transcript must accompany the application.
