Hagerstown Lions present Massey H. Roe scholarships

The Hagerstown Lions Club recently presented $1,000 Massey H. Roe Youth Foundation Scholarships to six local students.  

Receiving scholarships were Sally Johnston, Maureen Leavy, Lauren Metz, Brian Robair, Kevin Sokol and Mark Sokol.  

The youth scholarship program was founded and initially funded by club member Lion Massey H. Roe. The foundation has awarded 168 scholarships totaling $150,000 since 1988.

The Hagerstown Lions Club was chartered in 1923.  Local fundraising events include Pancake Day, Discovery Classic Golf Tournament, bingo and the Vince Tantillo 5K Run.  

The Lions also collect and recycle eyeglasses and hearing aids.
