Phyllis Jacqueline “Jackie” Springer, 82, of 828 Chestnut St., Hagerstown, Md., went to be with Jesus Saturday, June 18, 2011.

Born Wednesday, Sept. 5, 1928, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Harry C. Springer and the late Minnie G. Pittsnogle Springer.

She was employed and later retired from King’s Department Store. After retiring, she worked as a personal caregiver. Jackie’s passions were collecting antiques, cooking and working with the beautiful flowers in her garden.

She is survived by her sister, Doris Springer of Hagerstown; a brother, Carl Springer of Martinsburg, Pa.; nieces whom she raised, Lisa Proctor of Falling Waters, W.Va., Marsha Springer and Ruth Ann Barron, both of Hagerstown; numerous other nieces, nephews and their families; and faithful canine companion, Roxton.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Goetz, Thelma Floyd, Helen Ridenour and Catherine Garvin; and brothers, Earl Springer, Bobby Springer, Lawrence Springer and Clyde Springer.

A celebration of her homegoing will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, with the Rev. Clark Carr officiating.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday, June 21, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Hagerstown.
