Mr. Glenn O. Shelly, 87, of Mercersburg, Pa., died at 12:17 a.m. Sunday, June 19, 2011, at Menno Haven Nursing Home, Chambersburg, Pa.

Born April 5, 1924, in Mercersburg, he was a son of the late Emmert and Ethel Hager Shelly.

He was a 1943 graduate of the former Lemasters High School.

Mr. Shelly was employed by the former Loewengart and Co. of Mercersburg for 34 years. He then owned and operated AG Products Co. Inc. from 1980 to 2006. Throughout his working life, Glenn operated a photography business.

He was an active member of First United Methodist Church of Mercersburg, where he served in various positions within the church. He also was a member of the Mercersburg Historical Society.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma Garland Shelly, whom he married June 14, 1947; a daughter, Mala Jean (Mrs. Robert) Raubenstine of Hanover, Pa.; a son, Glenn Alan (husband of Sherre) Shelly of Mercersburg; four grandsons, Jeffrey (husband of Lauren) Shelly, Justin Shelly, Jeremy Shelly and David Raubenstine.   

He was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Wisler; and his brothers, John, Harry, Harold and Emmert Shelly.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard R. Lindsey officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg.

Viewing will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home Inc., Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the services Thursday at the church.
