CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. — A Franklin County, Pa., jury last week found Johnny Ray Sumner Jr., 21, guilty of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and four other charges.

Sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 14, according to a news release from the Franklin County (Pa.) District Attorney’s Office.

Sumner, whose residence is listed as Chambersburg in court documents, was accused of raping a 6-year-old girl at a homeless shelter. He also was accused of other sexual offenses, the release said.

Because of the age and nature of the case, the child testified via closed-circuit television, the release said.

Sumner was convicted June 13 of five counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, attempted aggravated indecent assault of a child and indecent assault.

Judge Douglas Herman presided over the trial.
