Hagerstown woman's purse stolen at gunpoint

A Hagerstown woman had her purse stolen at gunpoint Sunday morning in Hagerstown’s West End, according to a Hagerstown Police Department news release.


Police responded to the 500 block of Salem Avenue around 2:40 a.m. Sunday for a report of an armed robbery, police said.


The woman was walking in the area between Harmon’s Tavern and the old Shaff’s Pub, in the 400 block of Salem Avenue, when she was approached by two men, police said.


One man pulled out a silver handgun and pointed it at the woman, police said.


The men demanded money, police said. When the woman said she didn’t have any money, the men took the woman’s purse and fled west on Salem Avenue, police said.
