Bridge on Md. 63 to close starting Monday

June 18, 2011

The Md. 63 (Greencastle Pike) bridge will be closed over the CSX Railroad near Williamsport starting Monday, according to a news release from the Maryland State Highway Administration.

The bridge is expected to be closed until the end of the summer. Detours around the bridge have been set up.

Drivers on Md. 63 northbound from Williamsport will be detoured onto U.S. 11, then onto Interstate 81 northbound to Interstate 70 westbound before exiting back onto Md. 63 northbound.

Drivers going on Md. 63 southbound from Hagerstown can take I-70 eastbound from Md. 63 onto I-81 southbound. From there, they can get on U.S. 11 westbound before getting back on Md. 63 southbound.

The closure is needed to replace the deck where Md. 63 crosses CSX property, according to the release. The project is expected to cost about $1.3 million.
