Want to win a cake for Father’s Day? Join the Cake Walk at Calvary Temple, 147 S. Conococheague Street, on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. Price is $1 per walk. Event is sponsored by the Ladies Auxiliary of Calvary Temple and is open to everyone.

Leathernecks to sponsor poker run

The Leathernecks Nation Motorcycle Club will hold its first annual poker run to benefit the Williamsport Food Bank on Saturday. Registration is from noon to 2 p.m. at the Williamsport American Legion Pavilion.

Bring one nonperishable food item, if possible.

Cost is $15 per person, which includes a meal after the ride. Clubs are welcome.

Closed-route bicycle race is Sunday

The 2011 Tour of Washington County, sponsored by the Antietam Velo Club, comes to Williamsport on Sunday.

This will be a great day of racing with an opportunity to see some top cyclists in action.

The first race starts at 11 a.m. The following route will be closed to traffic and parking: the race will start and end at the post office on West Salisbury Street, turn right on South Conococheague Street, right on West Frederick Street, right on South Vermont Street, left bend onto South Commerce Street, then right turn back onto West Salisbury Street.


Potomac Garden Club to install officers

The Potomac Garden Club will hold is monthly meeting on Tuesday, June 21. Members will enjoy a catered picnic at Byron Memorial Park beginning at 11:30 a.m., followed by installation of officers for 2011-12.


Relay for Life team plans to walk all night

The Williamsport High School Blue Band’s Relay For Life team continues fundraising at the Relay For Life event at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds from 6 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Saturday.

The event features the luminaria ceremony, as the night is brightened by the glow of illuminated bags, each bearing the name of someone who has battled cancer. The luminarias line the track as team members walk throughout the night.

Visitors are welcome. Raffles will be held.

The Blue Band Relay For Life Team walks in memory of Josh Forysthe, a band member who died in 2010 from a rare form of cancer. All money raised benefits the American Cancer Society.

Registration for children’s Zumba classes

ZumbAtomic, a Zumba class for ages 5 to 8, begins Monday, June 27, at 4 p.m. at the St. Mark’s Parish Hall, 18313 Lappans Road.

Classes are taught by licensed instructor Jonnetta Gelwicks, aka Miss Jaye. Dates for classes are Mondays, June 27, July 18 and 25, Aug. 1, 8 and 15.

Cost is $25 for the six classes. Parents must register their children at zumbajaye@yahoo.com or by calling 301-560-2594.
