Yard sale

Hagerstown Business and Professional Women's Club will hold a yard sale Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 17815 Garden View Road in Maugansville.

Housewares, books, jewelry, clothes and miscellaneous items will be sold. Proceeds will benefit the club's scholarship program and community projects.

Roast beef dinner

Grace United Methodist Church will hold a roast beef dinner and silent auction Friday, June 24, from 5 to 7 p.m.

 The church is at 712 W. Church St. in Hagerstown.

The menu includes roast beef, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, coleslaw, roll and butter, coffee or tea, and  lemonade. Dessert will be available. Hot dogs instead of roast beef will be available for children, if desired.

Tickets cost $8 for adults and $5 for those ages 6 to 12. Those 5 and younger will be admitted free.

Proceeds will benefit the church budget.

TOPS 0077

TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) Chapter 0077 met June 6. After a monthly "no-gain" challenge week, chapter members combined for 36.25 pounds in losses. Top losers were Janice F. and Shirley K. with 5.25 pounds and 2.75 pounds lost, respectively.

The chapter meets Mondays at First Christian Church, 1345 Potomac Ave., Hagerstown. Weigh-in starts at 7:15 a.m. and the meeting begins at 9:30 a.m.

Fun zone

Paramount Brethren in Christ Church, 19106 Longmeadow Road, Hagerstown, will hold its "Kids' Fun Zone" Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

 The event will include water-related games, crafts, snacks and stories.

The event is free and all are welcome.

Haven Youth group says 'thanks' for support

The Youth Group at Haven Lutheran Church recently had a successful talent show, silent auction and ice cream extravaganza to raise funds for its mission trip to Mingo County, W.Va., and future youth retreats.

The youth group would like to offer its thanks to the following local businesses for their donations:

Gordon's Grocery, Café de Sol, Weis Market-Stone House Square, Snavely's Garden Center and Lovell's Nursery.

Many thanks to the congregation of Haven Lutheran Church for its gift of support and donated auction items.
