A Williamsport man was killed and his wife was injured Sunday night when their motorcycle collided with a car on Frederick Street in Hagerstown, Police Chief Arthur Smith said Monday.

Eric Zombro, 55, of 16714 Sterling Road in Williamsport, was pronounced dead at Meritus Medical Center, the Hagerstown Police Department said.

His wife, Melody Zombro, 50, was taken to Meritus Medical Center and later flown to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore to be treated for life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Melody Zombro was listed in critical but stable condition Monday night, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Police said the Zombros were riding south on Frederick Street at about 8:30 p.m., when their motorcycle collided with a 2005 Nissan Altima that pulled out of a parking lot at 775 Frederick St., near Claude M. Potterfield Pool.

The Zombros were thrown from the motorcycle when it struck the rear of the car, police said.

The Altima was driven by Kaitlin Jones of Frederick, Md., Smith said.

Police said neither Jones nor the other occupants of the car were injured.

Smith said the accident remained under investigation.
