Dave Reeder, a longtime Washington County Public Schools administrator, is a finalist for the superintendent post for the Camp Hill, Pa., school system, Camp Hill board member Barbara LaBine said Monday.

Camp Hill’s superintendent is retiring June 30 and the school board is expected to make a decision about the next superintendent in the next couple of weeks, LaBine said.

Reeder, of Greencastle, Pa., is director of secondary education for Washington County Public Schools.

A 1975 graduate of James Buchanan High School in Franklin County, Pa., Reeder said he has worked for Washington County schools for 32 years.

Reeder said one of his career goals is to lead a school system.

During his career here, Reeder has served as an assistant principal at Northern Middle and as a principal at Western Heights Middle, North Hagerstown High, Springfield Middle and E. Russell Hicks Middle, he said. He was director of middle school education before becoming director of secondary education.

Camp Hill is just southwest of Harrisburg, Pa. The school system has approximately 1,200 students and 100 teachers, according to the school system’s 2009-10 annual report, available at
