O'Neil commissioned as Army officer

WESTMINSTER, Md. — Jason O'Neil of Keedysville is one of nine McDaniel College graduating seniors commissioned May 21 as a U.S. Army officer. Members of the ROTC Green Terror Battalion, the second lieutenants, gave their first salutes during the college's 91st ceremony.

O'Neil, son of Sandy and Brian O'Neil, received a four-year ROTC scholarship in 2007 to attend McDaniel College, where he earned a degree in sociology, specializing in criminal justice.

In the summer of 2010, he traveled to Fort Lewis, Wash., to attend Warrior Forge. O'Neil branched into the Military Police and will attend the Military Police Officer Basic Course at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., in September. He is assigned to the National Guard 200th Military Police unit in Catonsville, Md.
