The Community Foundation of Washington County has announced that the Ryan Myers Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Joshua Ernst of Clear Spring.

The scholarship was created in memory of Ryan Myers by his family, and is supported through contributions from family and friends, and proceeds from the annual Race For Ryan.

The $1,000-per-year renewable award is given to a student from any accredited public, private or home-school program in Washington County who demonstrates a solid Christian character.

Joshua was selected from a pool of nearly three dozen applicants who provided a statement of faith, pastoral recommendation and a personal strategic plan.

Joshua's application stood out not only for his authentic commitment to faith, but also for a sincere letter of recommendation from his pastor, Dennis Whitmore of Hilltop Christian Fellowship.

Joshua will begin his college career at Potomac State College in an agriculture-related major.

The Ryan Myers Memorial Scholarship is one of many offered through the Community Foundation.
