Driver died before hitting house, coroner says

SPRING RUN, Pa. — A Spring Run, Pa. man who drove a Chevy sedan through a house Sunday died prior to the collision, according to a Pennsylvania State Police news release.

Merrill Walter Crouse, 86, drove a 2007 Chevrolet Impala through the home of Raymond Rhone at 16746 Main Street in Spring Run at approximately 5:09 p.m. Sunday, police said.

Franklin County Coroner Jeffrey R. Connor pronounced Crouse dead at the scene from natural causes that occurred prior to the accident.

Rhone’s house sustained severe damage in the accident, police said.

There was also damage to a shed that belongs to Spring Run Lumber Barn, police said.
