NEW MARKET, Md. — A St. Mary’s County, Md., man died after a Friday afternoon accident on Interstate 70 in which he was thrown from his motorcycle, Maryland State Police said.
Jeffrey Floyd Morrison, 40, of Mechanicsville, Md., was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center after he was flown there by Maryland State Police helicopter, state police said.
A 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was heading west on I-70 near Mussetter Road around 2:10 p.m. Friday when, for unknown reasons, it swerved out of its lane, then into the center median and hit the guardrail, throwing the driver from the motorcycle, according to a state police news release.
Portions of I-70 were closed for approximately one hour for the investigation, police said.
